Knife-Hand Routine

The Knife-hand routine contains 5 movements performed one after the other during linework. It is quite common for some of these to be performed with a loud kihap, especially the final movement and the jumping movement!

There is a photograph of Mr. King performing each movement and a brief description of how it is performed. You can jump to any of these by clicking the list above.

Left L-Stance outward Knife-Hand Strike

Step forwards from the ready position to perform a knife-hand strike with the right hand. The normal starting position is paralell ready stance.

Right L-Stance outward Knife-Hand Strike (spinning motion)

Step forwards and turn anti-clockwise to perform another outward knife-hand strike. Note: you are performing a left knife-hand strike in a right L-stance.

Jumping Knife-Hand Strike with the right hand

Jump and turn clockwise while performing a knife-hand strike. You should be in the air while performing the technique. The finish position should be similar to the first movement.

Walking Stance Twin Inward Knife-Hand Strike

Step forwards into a Left Walking Stance while performing a high twin inward knife-hand strike.

Walking Stance Reverse Downward Knife-hand Strike

Step Backwards to form a right walking stance while executing a reverse downward knife-hand strike.
